Website changes

You have probably all seen our new logo by now and we hope that you agree that it's a refreshing facelift for us. Over the next few months, we shall be revamping the Website to reflect the change and also to make sure that it's accessible and appealing to visitors whatever browser they are using. If anyone is interested in helping, please email the site or talk to William Gould at a rehearsal.

Concert flyer

The flyer for our Summer Concert is available for download. Unfortunately, it's a large file, so if you still a dialup connection to the Internet, you may like to pick up more of the printed leaflets to give to your music-loving friends. If you or your friends are on Broadband, however, why not download the flyer and email it to them, or better still, send them this link:

Future plans

As our Summer Concert approaches, GCU is already looking ahead to 2008-09. The following planned concerts have been announced:

  • Friday 24 October 2008, Royal Albert Hall.
Fauré Requiem and Berlioz Te Deum (joint promotion with RPO)
  • End of March 2009. Cadogan Hall.
Haydn Salve Regina, Nelson Mass, Handel Dixit Dominus
  • Beginning of July 2009. Venue to be confirmed.
Peter Skellern Weathers, Rossini Petite Messe solennelle

Join the GCU Members Distribution List

Before each concert we try to send out to those of you whose email addresses have been given to us a flyer or a publicity message for you to send to your friends. We do this in the hope of getting more people to come to our concerts. Unfortunately, the Internet being a rather fluid entity, some of our messages "bounce", failing to reach their target recipients. If you want to make sure of getting the next concert flyer, please contact us by clicking the link below. Please include your name and voice part.

Your email address will not be visible to anyone else in the list and we will not pass it on to anyone outside Goldsmiths Choral Union. You can leave the list at any time by just asking us to take you off it.

We hope that you will find being on the distribution list helpful. So to join the list, just click here.

Chairman's summer letter

GCU chairman David Hayes issued his most recent Summer Letter in August 2007, and it was duly sent out to all members. If you failed to receive a copy or are new to the choir and would like a quick overview of our past activities to get some idea of what you're in for, download the 2007 letter by clicking here.

Prague visit

GCU's first visit to the Czech Republic went extremely well. In fact, it was undoubtedly the best tour we have undertaken so far. Chairman David Hayes gives his verdict on the trip in his 2007 Summer Letter (see above).

A big thank you goes to Victoria Ware for all her hard work in liaising with the tour company on our behalf and helping the trip go so smoothly. Victoria herself has contacted the Website and wants us to put out the following message, which of course we are happy to do.

Hallo Everyone.

Thanks to all of you who have taken the time to write or email me saying how much you enjoyed the trip to Prague. It makes such a difference having a good tour company involved in the arrangements and I thought that Specialised Travel did an excellent job.

I had a great time as well and appreciate the support given by Brian, Steve and members of the Committee and, of course, all of you and our supporters!

Hope you have all had an enjoyable summer.

Best wishes
Victoria
