GCU in rehearsal at the Barbican, April 2003.
As a busy and friendly choir, GCU welcomes singers with good but not necessarily trained voices and good sight-reading ability. It offers choral singers the chance to perform a wide variety of choral music in London's major concert halls and churches. The repertoire ranges from Monteverdi to Michael Tippett, and the performance spaces range from the vastness of the Royal Albert Hall to the more intimate surroundings of St John's, Waterloo. GCU also undertakes overseas tours. Recent trips have taken it to France, Belgium and Spain.
Rehearsals
Rehearsals normally take place at Baden Powell House, Queen's Gate, London SW7 (nearest tube, Gloucester Road) on Wednesday evenings from 18.30 to 21.30.
Will I be asked to take an audition?
Yes. Entry to singing membership of the choir is by audition, usually after a few rehearsals. If you would like to attend some rehearsals and have an audition, please write, enclosing a stamped and addressed envelope, to our Membership Secretary.
