We return to Southwark Cathedral for our Summer Concert, which links Bruckner's popular Mass in E minor of 1866 with music by the Venetian composer Giovanni Gabrieli and two lesser known works – Bliss's late cantata The world is charged with the grandeur of God, composed in 1969 to words by Gerard Manley Hopkins, and Corp's Missa San Marco, which was premièred by Highgate Choral Society at St Mark's, Venice, in 2003. This work, recently orchestrated by the composer, is being performed here in its original unaccompanied version. Tickets £15 unreserved, available from GCU members or at the door Please note: The Refectory will be open for hot food and light snacks through to 7.30 pm on a first-come-first-served basis. |
